![]() I tried all combinations of having the record and input monitoring buttons on or off, no go. No sound as soon as I hit play on the new track. I recorded a small bit of audio on the first track, then tried to add something on the second. I started a new session, added two audio tracks. It would also work if I disabled the previously recorded track. ![]() I have never seen this behavior before and it made trying to play along with the track impossible as the track was now muted. ![]() After much fiddling around, I realized that if I turned the button that says 'dyn/off' to off on a previously recorded audio track, then I could monitor while playing back. I could hear just fine before starting playback or recording, but as soon as I would hit play or try to record, there was no sound on the track I was trying to practice/record on. I certainly don't think that I would be willing to move to another DAW to be able to use Faderport or Console One.PT 12.1 was working fine for me early today, then at some point, Input Monitoring stopped working. I think the problem with most of the established DAW's is that they have become such complicated beasts that it must be difficult to achieve an intuitive fit. I suppose I picked the Panorama 1 because it was designed to work with Cubase and required no fettling at all, working right off the bat. I has made me realise what a pain mixing ITB can be. I have enjoyed using it for mixing especially when I am balancing a number of channels with each other. My only real beef with it is the 4 character limit with channel names. However it works really well with Cubase and covers most bases and even works well with most plugins as long as you accept basic functionality. It does not have motorised faders - that's because it is very cheap. However, and I'm sure this sounds pathetic, I decided to try the Nektar Panorama 1. I am not sure that Studio 1 has anything to offer me. I normally start proper recording to a simple click and or drum loop and as I develop the song structure can easily bounce a version to logic, create the song arrangement and then a drummer track and export that to S1. I was worried about losing logic drummer and its producer kits but I confirmed the other day, that I can export the producer kits as separate audio files and import into S1, so can have the best of both worlds. ![]() ![]() I usually use Logic, which does not have full FP8 functionality, so I am also demoing Studio 1 v3 Pro ( 30 day free), for its deepest integration with FP 8 and same for console 1. It wasn't so long ago that we sure couldn't get the functionality of the FP8 and console 1 for a grand, so I am very curious about working with them both and will share my experiences here. Yes, not a very logical way to get more OTB, but perhaps a transitionary strategy ? I do appreciate the convenience of plugs, although I am using fewer of them. I am on the computer all day at work and starting to hate itb mixing.Īs you know, last week, I bumped into a deal on a pretty young faderport 8 so bought it, to try it and I have also been following the development of softtube's console 1, especially the mkii with its price drop and software update running UA plugs.Ĭhecked with Studio Economik and they are available in Canada this week, so bought one. I have been selling software to try to afford a bunch of 500 series eq's but getting cold feet about that total expense. ![]()
